Description

The simplest way to start a bird café.

Our Stick Bird Feeder turns a single elegant spike into a daily show. Skewer an apple half, orange, suet ball, or seed cake and watch chickadees, nuthatches, and woodpeckers drop by. The clean Corten steel form disappears into branches and beds while the food becomes the star. Over time the steel develops a warm patina that blends with bark and mulch—nature gets the soft focus, you get front‑row seats.

Compact, clever design... 12.5" × 4" (32 × 10 cm) including branch/spike
Premium weathering steel... protective patina for four‑season use
Tap‑in installation... pre‑drill hard woods; effortless in soft timber
Versatile menu... fruit, suet, seed cakes, or peanut clusters
Gift‑ready... regular box 11" × 8" × ¼" (28 × 20 × 0.6 cm), ~8 oz (227 g)

Place it like a pro for happy birds.

  1. Choose safe cover – near shrubs for quick escape routes; avoid tight corners.
  2. Pre‑drill if needed – in dense timber, a 3–4 mm pilot hole makes tapping easy.
  3. Tap to seat – hold at a slight downward angle and tap the thick end until firm.
  4. Skewer the food – apple/orange halves, suet balls, or seed cakes press firmly onto the spike.
  5. Mind the windows – place 10 ft (3 m) from large panes or use decals to reduce collisions.

Top Tip: In winter, switch to high‑energy suet; in spring and fall, fruit halves are brilliant for orioles, waxwings, and local thrushes.

What foods are best on the spike?
Apple or orange halves, suet balls, seed cakes, and whole peanut clusters. Avoid bread; it’s not nutritious for birds.

How do I keep squirrels off?
Mount away from jump points (8–10 ft / 2.5–3 m), use a smooth post, or add a baffle above. Try safflower if raiders persist.

How often should I clean it?
Wipe the spike between refills and wash with mild soapy water weekly in warm weather. Dispose of old food promptly.

Where should I place it for photos?
Near soft morning light with a leafy backdrop. Keep perches nearby so birds queue naturally.

Will the patina stain decks?
Early runoff can mark pale stone or wood. Install over soil/mulch or seal nearby surfaces if you’re particular.

Each Metalbird is crafted from Corten® Steel, a premium, weathering steel made to last.

When it meets the elements, it doesn’t rust like your old BBQ. It transforms.

That change you’re seeing? That’s patina. A tough, protective outer layer that seals the steel, adds character, and preserves your bird for decades.

This isn’t paint. It’s nature’s way of ageing gracefully.

The Patina Process:

At first, you’ll notice bright orange spots (we call this the teenage phase). Soon enough, the whole bird will turn a bold orange, slowly shifting into deep burnt umber. Eventually, it settles into a moody charcoal that feels like it’s always belonged.

The Result? A piece of industrial art with a heartbeat. No peeling, no fading, just a bird that gets better with age.
