Description

The tiny bird with the biggest heart.

The Hummingbird is nature’s pocket rocket. Our silhouette is based on the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird, weighing just 0.1oz but burning energy like a machine. Its wings beat 200 times a second, its heart races at 1,200 beats per minute, and it consumes half its weight in sugar daily. Small but mighty, it even chases off Jays and Hawks.

Our silhouette captures that fiery spirit in steel, designed to endure all weathers. Place it in your garden for a daily reminder of nature’s smallest marvel with the greatest fight.

How to install your Hummingbird

  1. Pick your perch – a fence post, garden edge, or branch works best.
  2. Hold at a downward angle – mimic a hovering hummingbird.
  3. Align the stake – thick end against the surface.
  4. Hammer gently – tap until secure.
  5. Adjust angle – make sure it looks as if it’s mid-flight.

Top Tip: Install near flowers or feeders to mirror a hummingbird’s natural behaviour.

Which flowers attract hummingbirds to my yard?
Plant nectar‑rich, tubular blooms like bee balm, salvia, cardinal flower, columbine, and native honeysuckle. Skip pesticides so natural nectar remains safe.

Where should I install the silhouette for the best look?
Near a feeder or nectar plants, angled slightly downward so it reads as “mid‑hover.” Position it where morning or evening light will catch the edges.

Does Corten steel change colour over time?
Yes. It develops a warm, protective patina in the first weeks outdoors, then stabilises—no paint or upkeep required.

Is it okay to tap into a tree?
A post, fence, or deadwood is best. If placing on a living tree, choose a thick, non‑critical area and tap shallowly to avoid damaging the cambium.

Is this a good gift?
Definitely—a meaningful piece of garden décor and hummingbird art for birthdays, housewarmings, or memorials.

Each Metalbird is crafted from Corten® Steel, a premium, weathering steel made to last.

When it meets the elements, it doesn’t rust like your old BBQ. It transforms.

That change you’re seeing? That’s patina. A tough, protective outer layer that seals the steel, adds character, and preserves your bird for decades.

This isn’t paint. It’s nature’s way of ageing gracefully.

The Patina Process:

At first, you’ll notice bright orange spots (we call this the teenage phase). Soon enough, the whole bird will turn a bold orange, slowly shifting into deep burnt umber. Eventually, it settles into a moody charcoal that feels like it’s always belonged.

The Result? A piece of industrial art with a heartbeat. No peeling, no fading, just a bird that gets better with age.
