Description

Give your favourite plant a little lift... and a lot of grace.

Some stakes are shy support acts. Our Hummingbird Plant Stake steals the scene while quietly doing the hard yards. The hovering silhouette adds a hit of poetry to your pot or garden bed, and the Corten steel spine gives vines and tall stems the structure they crave. At 25" (64 cm), it’s the sweet spot—tall enough to guide growth, slim enough to disappear behind foliage so the bird and the plant feel like one story.

This is more than a prop; it’s a daily moment of wonder. Slide it into soil, loop a tendril, and watch green ambition climb.

Elegant height... two pieces, each 13" (33 cm), 25" (64 cm) assembled
Premium quality... made from 1/7-inch (~3.6 mm) weathering Corten steel
Original artwork... finely cut hummingbird detail that flatters any plant
Practical support... steadies climbers and top-heavy stems without bulk
Low-maintenance... natural patina forms a protective, no-fuss finish
Gift-ready... compact box 11" x 8" x ¼" (28 x 20 x 0.6 cm), approx. 8oz (227 g)

Quick setup for strong, beautiful growth

  1. Assemble the stake – slide the two joints together until snug; no tools needed.
  2. Prep the pot/bedmoisten the soil so insertion is smooth and gentle on roots.
  3. Place at the edgeinsert near the rim of the pot or the plant’s drip line to avoid the main root ball.
  4. Set the anglelean very slightly toward the plant so stems can rest naturally against the stake.
  5. Guide the growthloop soft ties or gently twine young vines around the stake; never cinch tight.
  6. Final tweakrotate the bird to ‘hover’ above new shoots and face your favourite viewing angle.

Top Tip: For indoor setups, add a handful of stones to the base of lighter pots for extra stability, then train new growth weekly so stems learn the path early.

What plants does this work best with?
Ivy, pothos, philodendron, jasmine, black-eyed Susan vine, peas/beans, and any top-heavy or vining plant that needs a confident vertical guide.

How deep should I insert it?
Aim for 3–5 inches (7–12 cm) into firm soil. In garden beds, go deeper if the soil is loose. Always insert at the edge of the root zone rather than through the centre.

Will the patina mark surfaces?
During early weathering, Corten can shed a light residue. For indoor displays, wipe after install and place on a saucer or keep away from pale stone. The finish stabilises over time.

Can I use it outdoors year-round?
Yes. Corten steel is designed for all seasons. It forms a protective, rust-coloured patina that resists the elements and looks better with age.

Any care tips for best results?
Rotate the pot for even light, loosen and retie plant ties as stems thicken, and give the silhouette an occasional dust or rinse—no other maintenance required.

Each Metalbird is crafted from Corten® Steel, a premium, weathering steel made to last.

When it meets the elements, it doesn’t rust like your old BBQ. It transforms.

That change you’re seeing? That’s patina. A tough, protective outer layer that seals the steel, adds character, and preserves your bird for decades.

This isn’t paint. It’s nature’s way of ageing gracefully.

The Patina Process:

At first, you’ll notice bright orange spots (we call this the teenage phase). Soon enough, the whole bird will turn a bold orange, slowly shifting into deep burnt umber. Eventually, it settles into a moody charcoal that feels like it’s always belonged.

The Result? A piece of industrial art with a heartbeat. No peeling, no fading, just a bird that gets better with age.
