MEET THE BIRD

The view has a new lookout

You know the pause when you spot a raptor on a roadside post and look twice. This design holds that moment: upright, wings tucked, watching the world go by. Give it a clear backdrop where you can enjoy the shape from the house.

Close-up of the perched Red-Tailed Hawk silhouette cut from unpainted steel.

MADE FOR OUTDOORS

Steel that changes with the seasons

Corten is weathering steel. Outdoors, the surface develops a rust-coloured patina, so the finish changes with the weather and the spot you choose. It arrives as unpainted steel; the colour and pace of weathering vary. Leave it unpainted and keep rust runoff away from pale paving, walls and other surfaces that could stain.

INSTALLATION

Choose a perch. Tap it in.

Choose sound timber on a sturdy post or wooden planter rim, with permission to install. Hold the mounting spike against the wood at a slight downward angle. Use gentle, controlled taps with a hammer or mallet on the thick end of the mounting spike, never the bird. Check it is secure before letting go. Keep sharp edges away from children and paths. Adults should handle installation.

READY TO GIVE

A small box with someone in mind.

For the roadside bird spotter, the raptor fan, or someone who has just found a place of their own. At 43 cm high, the hawk has a tall presence and comes in a large flat gift box.
