Does the plant stake need a hammer?
No. Slide the two supplied sections together and push the pointed end into soil. It is a plant stake, not a bird designed to hammer into timber.

How do I install it?
Slide the two supplied steel sections together at the joint. Push the pointed end into suitable soil until the stake is stable, clear of the plant’s main roots. Do not hammer this plant stake into timber. Keep sharp edges away from children and walkways. The assembled height is approximately 64 cm (25 in); some of that length sits below the soil.

Will the steel change colour?
Corten is weathering steel. Outdoors, the surface develops a rust-coloured patina, so the finish changes with the weather and the spot you choose. It arrives as unpainted steel; the colour and pace of weathering vary. Leave it unpainted and keep rust runoff away from pale paving, walls and other surfaces that could stain.
