Helped by their made-for-purpose long hind toe, these small streaky brown songbirds like to walk around foraging on shores or plowed fields, wagging their tails as they go. Small and humble they may be, but tough too.

Were you told as a kid to not eat snow? Well, the Pipit does not follow this advice! It turns out that pipits use the receding winter snowpack in the mountains as a feeding strategy. They wait for warm valley winds to carry insects upward and onto the snowpack where they die and freeze in place. Then the pipits simply come along and dine on the frozen treats throughout the summer!

Care Instruction

Our birds are designed with 1/8-inch CorTen steel to form a protective patina that deepens and strengthens with the seasons. This patina will deepen in shade over the years until it reaches a deep brown/charcoal black hue.

This self-sealing aspect of CorTen steel provides a quality guarantee of up to 100 years, ensuring that our product lasts a lifetime and remains completely corrosion resistent.

What might initially resemble generic rust is simply the air and water-tight patina forming over a six month period, so don’t panic! Your Metalbird is doing exactly what it’s been designed to do, and this patina will protect the steel from any further damage and disintegration.

CorTen steel does not require any treatments, oils or chemical additives and is therefore extremely environmentally friendly.

Due to recent Canada Post strikes we've partnered with both UPS and FedEx to get your Metalbird to you quickly and reliably. Please note, UPS out-of-zone surcharges may apply for rural or remote areas. Additionally, due to increased demand on FedEx, we’ve temporarily removed our FedEx Express service, as we can’t guarantee its reliability at this time.
