Metalbirds are laser cut from Premium 1/8 inch Corten Steel.

A copper chromium alloy steel, our premium Corten steel is weather resistant - it's designed to quickly develop a patina (commonly assumed to be rust), which then gives a layer of protection sealing in the steel and preserving it. It means that Metalbrids last for decades, with a patina that changes with the seasons. Corten steel is the steel you see used in high end exterior architecture. Once it develops a patina, it looks beautiful for years, 

We're proud to say that our birds are made right here in Montreal. Partnering with local, family owned factories is something we firmly believe in, regardless of the added cost. It means working with people we trust, remaining accountable to the environment, and strengthening local economies. 

All designs are dreamed up and designed by the Metalbird team and led by our founder Phil Walters. Each bird is carefully researched and add their distinctive artistic flair captured within our designs. 

Due to our decision to manufacture with premium weathering steel, we do not recommend painting them. 

A lot of love, skill and time goes into the creation of one bird. We're a small team and at this stage, it just isn't feasible for us to do small one-off projects - as much as we'd love to. If you have something larger in mind though please get in touch by emailing info@metalbird.ca and we'll see if we can help. 

While we're not sure exactly what goes through a real Bluejay's mind, we've received thousands of photos of real birds sitting on or next to our art pieces, so we can confidently say no! 

Of course, it's important to ensure that the tree is not too young, too slender in the trunk, or thinly barked. Look for a mature, large tree with a girthy trunk and thick bark for best results. 

Trees will reflexively seal around small holes made to prevent infection or disease from entering, as we've learned from consulting arborists! However, if you feel unsure, just explore the world for other spots and spaces! 

Please, pack your Metalbird in your checked bag. Do not pack your Metalbird in your carry-on baggage; it is a sharp metal, which unfortunately means it will be taken off you at security.

If you are worried about your Metalbird getting damaged in your checked baggage, a layer of bubble wrap is recommended, and place it flat, ideally against a hard side to help prevent bending during transit!

Absolutely… in fact, over half of the birds we sell are gifts. Just tell us the name and postal address of the lucky person and we'll send it to them in its own beautiful recycled gift box. When you check out, you can even get us to insert a personalised message. And no - we won't put anything in the box showing how much it cost. That will be emailed to you. 

All of our orders are shipped with either Canada Post or Fedex. You will be sent a tracking number when your order is sent so you can follow your Metalbird's journey. 

Unfortunately, we can only have one shipping address per order. But not to worry, you can place as many orders as you would like, to reflect all the different lucky receivers! 

Once your order leaves our warehouse, you'll receive a track and trace link. To receive alerts, provide delivery instructions, schedule a delivery, or deliver to another address, you can create a complimentary account with FedEx to manage your delivery. 

We aim to have orders placed before midday shipped on the same day, but almost always within two business days to ensure you receive your Metalbird promptly.

Once your order has been confirmed, we are unable to change the delivery address details. We kindly as that you fully check your address details are correct before proceeding to checkout. If you still require a change to your shipping address, you must sign up with FedEx Delivery Manager, and request a change of address on delivery. 

Freight prices range between $10.95 through $14.95 for most areas via Canada Post Standard Shipping, $14.95 through $19.95 via FedEx Express Shipping and on eligible orders or FREE on orders $180 and over. * Please note: we ship with FedEx and some areas are deemed 'Out of Zone.' This means that we are unable to offer free freight to these areas and they will automatically be charged $29.95 for freight. For very remote locations, we charge more again. No, we aren't in the business of ruining surprise gifts! All order information will be emailed to the address you give us when checking out. We don't put anything in the shipment, just in case it's a gift for someone.

We strongly advise shipping to a physical address to avoid long delivery timelines and our standard delivery timelines do not apply to PO Box deliveries. 

You have the right to cancel your Metalbird gift voucher within 14 working days of receipt provided that you have not used the gift voucher. In case of cancellation, Metalbird will refund the amount of the gift voucher to the original payment method used during ordering within 14 days of cancellation. Please shoot us an email on info@metalbird.ca to enquire about cancellation and refunds. 

Treat your gift card as cash! Input your unique voucher code before checking out. If you owe more than what is left on the card - no worries! Simply use any other preferred payment method to cover the remainder. 

Unfortunately, you cannot use a gift voucher to purchase another gift voucher.

Certainly, gift vouchers are applied to the final order total which includes shipping and taxes.

Discount codes cannot be applied to gift vouchers. The exception is a product specific discount code where the product is the gift voucher. 

Don’t you hate it when gift vouchers expire? Well great news Metalbird gift vouchers are valid forever and only expire once you’ve used them! Feel free to redeem at a time that works for you… or pass it on to your family or to your friends.

Yes! Treat your balance as cash, gift vouchers are just another form of payment.

Yes, your gift voucher is valid until every cent of the balance runs out.

No. Due to our limited amount of designs released, any limited edition item cannot be further discounted. Discount codes can only be used on on our regular + large bird purchases.
